Specifically, the site lists housing for a variety of needs, including low-income earners, disaster victims, the elderly, people with disabilities, families raising children, and foreigners.
We, too, sometimes receive advice from elderly people who are looking for rental housing but do not have a guarantor. As the second baby boom generation enters their elderly years, the number of unmarried and childless households is expected to increase, and many more people will have no guarantor. Although screening of tenants through guarantee associations is increasing, we feel that there will continue to be challenges for elderly people living alone.
Currently, there are not many safety net housing units available. As it is difficult to expand public housing, efforts to increase the supply of private housing are required. However, the supply of safety-net housing in urban centers is still in short supply, and rents are not always low. We find that there are many challenges ahead to provide a truly livable environment for those who have a difficult tenant screening process.
Property owners also have the freedom to choose what restrictive requirements they will accept. This flexibility is a benefit to the owner. Even those who own a single room sublease property can use the assistance program.
